About the Course
Join us for a day of magic, meditation and expression through creativity to deepen your connection with yourself and the earth.
Thank you for your interest to join us for our day using creative collage to explore how you interact with the world around you and how you experience decision making, serendipitous moments in both the visual world and in your daily life.
The day is a time for stillness, inner contemplation and outward creativity. Collage is an artistic process that could be said to find its roots in mosaics, quilting and other areas through the gradual combination of small shapes to make a whole. It was rediscovered by artists at the turn of the last century as the use of printed paper became more widespread and as the use of recycled objects to recombine into different forms was experiemented with. Picasso and Braque tried out combining different materials and the fragmented views associated with Cubism and multiple perspectives while the Surrealist artist used printed material to easily re-combine recognisable images to illustrate or create dreamlike combinations. Kurt Schwitters the German artist was a great proponent of items like bus tickets and leaflets to create dynamic and beautiful compositions.
Collage is a process that I have used extensively in my most recent practice that has given me not just an infinitely adaptable, easily manipulated ability to use and reuse found materials but also to continually reinvent my own work with the realisation that perhaps my work only needs to have a temporary resting place as a finished item before it is then the starting place for another piece.
We will start the day with a meditation that will set the scene for your creativity.
We take you on a meditation journey of inner connection supporting you to access your inner worlds, wounds, strengths, beliefs ( both limiting and real ).
Then using the imagery, energy, ideas that have come through we invite you to create your own collage. You will work with materials in an intuitive manner, not be expected to produce a recognisable object or person but instead enjoy the elements of pattern, texture, colour, shape and line as they manifest for you through the manipulation of the cut, torn, folded and combined materials.
At the end of the day we have another mediation to integrate all that has been felt, learnt and experienced.
