About the Course
Join us for an afternoon of magic, meditation and expression through creativity to deepen your connection with yourself and the earth. This creative encounter is based on the ancient traditions of journey sticks suffused with our own unique flavour. This will be a time for stillness, inner contemplation and outward creativity. You will have spent the afternoon using a variety of materials and processes that might include carving, drilling, threading, wrapping, painting, weaving or anything else that suggests itself to create a journeying stick.
On the Journey:
We will support you to access your inner worlds, wounds, strengths, beliefs (both limiting and real) deepening your connection with the elements and Mother Earth herself.
Then using the imagery, energy and ideas that have come through we will invite you to create your own journeying stick.
At the end of the day there will be another mediation to integrate all that has been felt, learnt and experienced.
Background information:
Journey sticks have been a part of many indigenous cultures. The idea of a member of the tribe going on a journey collecting tokens of their experience and attaching them to a stick - a small rock reminding of the river they crossed, flowers from a meadow they rested in, a feather to remind them of home. Then when they returned home sitting around the fire they would share their adventures, realisations, aha moments, moments of courage....
Originally we started using this idea to document our 'unicorn days' - unplanned spontaneous days of adventure. We would take a stick found on the day and then work on it with the energy and memory of the experience. Using paints, carving and adornment we represented the codes, memories and emotions we had experienced.
We took huge amounts of pleasure crafting with layers from our inner and outer worlds. We were able to recognise the wisdom of the energy from the stick that guided our inner explorations. From this place of exploration this beautiful magical offering was birthed.

Reviews:
I am a person who likes to try new things but in a comfortable safe way. Goodness this day was exactly that.. I let go of my worries & inner stories because it was such a nurturing day. It did so much for me. I'm not artistic by any stretch of the imagination 🤣 but with Simon & Karen's guidance (& amazing supply of resources) I created a work of art! 🤗 Also the mixture of masculine & feminine energy was really present. I loved using the power tools but then painting delicate designs on my stick. This was true for mixing with the other attendees too. I met people I wouldn't have necessarily conversed with & that was beautiful. Thank you, thankyou, thank you, Love Heather
